On Monday, Microsoft announced the launch of Copilot Mode in its Edge browser, a way to use voice or text commands to automatically perform web-based tasks with AI.
Sean Lyndersay, Vice President of Microsoft Edge, explained in a blog post that under Copilot Mode, Edge “won’t just wait for you to click, but will anticipate what you want to do next.”
It not only offers users endless tabs to sift through, but also acts as a collaborator to make all information clear and comprehensible. It keeps you browsing smoothly, reduces clutter, removes friction, and unlocks your workflow — all while adhering to Microsoft’s highest standards of security, privacy, and performance.
Moreover, Microsoft found that people most often use AI for writing and related knowledge work. To the relief of anxious white-collar workers, the company suggested that their jobs may change, but not completely disappear.
Researchers analyzed over 200,000 anonymous interactions with Microsoft’s AI search engine assistant, Bing Copilot.
Unlike a long list of web pages, Bing Copilot summarizes search results and provides answers, somewhat similar to Google’s AI Overview.
